Certified foreign correspondence secretary

After finishing the Gymnasium with the 'Abitur', I had a vocational training as a certified foreign correspondence secretary for English and French. I followed this profession for nearly six years at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. In this research setting I realised how fascinating scientific work can be. Looking for new challenges, but also having always been interested in societal processes, I consequently started to study social sciences — a combination of sociology, political science, social psychology, methods of empirical social research as well as industrial and organisational psychology, which I chose as my optional subject. During my studies I worked at the university. The major part of my duties there consisted of proofreading and the layout of the six volumes of Professor Hartmut Esser's textbook on 'Soziologie. Spezielle Grundlagen'.

Having completed my studies with a diploma thesis on 'The Meaning and Change of Church Religiosity' in the field of sociology, I worked as a scientific assistant at the chair of Sociology and Theory of Science of the University of Mannheim. Besides teaching students sociology, I was mainly engaged in translating and editing social scientific publications and research reports. Finally, I decided to combine my expertise in social sciences with my language skills and to offer these qualifications on a freelance basis.
